SHOP UPDATE: New Studio Space

Well, Riley and I have exciting news: we've moved studio spaces! Our studio space is right in the heart of one of my favorite neighborhoods in Louisville - the original Highlands.

11 paint samples later *crazy, I know* and we're one step closer to moving in and opening our doors. The studio has great bones, but needs considerable work, attention and some serious love.

My first major goal for renovating the space is to CLEAN and POLISH the studio. I started by removing unnecessary items from the walls (like the electrical work shown above) and giving the space a deep clean.

So far the walls have all been painted a fresh white and the doors have been painted a moody greenish-black. I've yet to paint the floors, but don't worry, they're next!

Riley, the ultimate snoozer and hands-off project manager has been keeping me company while I work. I'm thankful for such a sweet helper!

Baby steps, right?! That's what I keep telling myself.

At first, I felt a little overwhelmed with all the to-do's and immediate needs of the space... But as I began to make more progress, *slowly but surely*, I found myself getting increasingly excited about all the neat things this space can do in the ways of sharing my artwork and fostering community.

I can't wait to begin filling these white walls with lots of new pieces and to start offering fun workshops and classes for all of our Lou friends.

I'll be sure to report back with our progress; please wish us luck! Riley and I could use all the good vibes and help we can get!

DIY Floral Inspired Painting Workshop with Anthropologie

Loved celebrating Mother's Day with Kate of Refuge Floral Co. and Anthropologie via a super special Mother's Day Painting Workshop!

My very favorite thing about this workshop, in addition to providing attendees with two great handmade gifts for Mom (a little floral arrangement AND an abstract mini), was the opportunity I had to collaborate with so many talented people.

Kate foraged *yes, foraged* the most beautiful blooms and greenery for us to use when creating individual milk jar floral arrangements. Kate gave us lots of helpful tips and tricks for arranging and combining both flowers and greenery in a simple, charming and natural way. Unpretentious, unfussy and easy to recreate at home.

After creating our milk jar arrangements, the painting fun began! I guided the workshop through the basics of painting a still life scene (in this case a small collection of flowers) and shared some helpful tips and tools to make painting the scene more approachable, fun and easy.

With the help of a mimosa or two (compliments of Stoney River) and the vision/direction of Whitney from Anthropologie, attendees created STUNNING arrangements and BEAUTIFUL mini paintings. Everyone seriously blew me away! Thanks to all who attended and made the workshop as awesome as I hoped it would be.

Below, you'll see some of my favorite moments from the workshop documented by the super talented Katie Meek Photography. Thanks so much for sharing your talents with me, Katie!

Special thanks to for Refuge Floral Co for letting us all play with such beautiful blooms/greenery, to Stoney River Steak House for the festive mimosas and sweet treats, to Whitney + the Anthropologie team for your creativity and hard work, and to Katie Meek Photo for your unique perspective and beyond gorgeous images of our workshop.

Thankful for my Nashville friends, both old and new, and the opportunity to work with such an amazing creative team.

Oh, and Happy Belated Mother's Day, Mom!
